Vientiane

The capital city, very French, and really rather pleasant. Particularly the Scandinavian Bakery which does a fine line in chocolate Viennese shortbread (funny that we’re in Laos, in a French-feeling city, frequenting a Scandinavian bakery and yet the specialité du jour is a Viennese shortbread... yuh). The hotel was also super nice though their internet was consistently broken and each time we asked about it we got a consistently long, consistently boring and consistently unlikely story. Blah.

  1. The Scandinavian Bakery is fabulous. We were travelling with a Swedish girl and we met her upstairs there one afternoon while Abba were playing Waterloo at top volume.
